After completing her Master's degree in Architecture in Australia (including a 2 year stint in Mexico on student exchange) she headed for the bright lights and noodles of Shanghai, looking for a new challenge.
Through her work experience there, she was eventually led towards Interior Architecture, preferring to work within the more intimate connection people have with their immediate surroundings.
She has since completed numerous projects, both built and unbuilt, ranging from residential, through commercial, to the experimental. I believe design is successful when it incorporates all disciplines, because nothing exists in a vacuum. I love that each discipline has its own set of materials, and I enjoy learning about all of them. Understanding what others have to work with can only help you in what you work with. And design should respond to current societal issues, because it should benefit everyone and everything. The most pressing issue today is sustainability, and I strive to live and work with as little environmental impact as possible. Also design should inspire. We humans have come a long way from simply needing shelter from the elements - not that a cave and its art is uninspiring - but we constantly crave new experiences, and designers and artists are perfectly placed to provide this, as well as provoke thought and emotion, as we forever pursue new understandings of the human condition.
