Design Rankings and Ratings
A' Design Award and Competition publishes, promots and supports several design rankings all with different aims, different sorting algorithms and different target audiences. Mainly, the A' Design Award and Competition, publish eight major rankings and ratings, available to public audiences. These eight main rankings platforms are as follows : World Design Rankings (which lists ranking of all represented countries), R+ Designer Rankings (individual rankings of designers i.e. the design hall of fame), DAC - Design Classifications (category/industry based rankings), Popular Designers (based on impressions and popularity), Brand Design Rankings (merit based rankings focused on brands, that takes award year into consideration), Design Leaderboards (concurrent ranking system with a higher emphasis on recent achievements), World Design Ratings (design honorifics and ratings based on repeat achievements), as well as the A' Design Award Winner's List which sorts the winners in the current year. World Design Rankings
Current World Design Rankings of Countries are displayed at worlddesignrankings.com This ranking system is based on the number of awards won by each country. For each country, further details and sub-country rankings are available. The scoring for World Design Rankings are explained below. If you wish to view the alternative World Design Rankings based on Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronzer and Iron status (instead of weighted score), you could check it here.
Scoring for World Design Rankings
The ranking is based on number of awards won, however a score is also provided. The score is calculated the following way: An A' Award (Marked as Iron) counts as two (2), bronze award counts as three (3), silver award counts as (4), and a golden award counts as five (5) points, the first place / platinum award counts as six (6) score points. R+ Designer Rankings
Current Designer Rankings are displayed at designerrankings.com This ranking system is based on the award value. Scoring for designer rankings is given below. DesignerRankings ranking table lists all the designers who have won an A' Design Award, top 10, top 100, top 1000 is accessible. Please note that the Designer Rankings platform displays the Top 1000 list, if you wish to view the top 100 designers instead, please click here.
Scoring for Designer Rankings
For main competition categories, an A' Award counts as two (2), bronze award counts as three (3), silver award counts as (4), and a golden award counts as five (5) points, the first place / platinum award counts as six (6) score points. For custom competitions, the 1st place is three (3), second place is (2), third place is (1) points. The designer with the highest score are ranked first. Designer Classifications
World Design Classifications are shown at designclassifications.com This ranking system is based on the platinum, gold, silver, bronze and iron ranking system. Different from the World Design Ranking system and the Designer Rankings, the Design Classification order is based for each design award category. For each design award category, you could figure out best designers in that field. Ordering System for Designer Classifications
Award winning status on main competitions are counted. Designers in each distinct design category are ordered first by the number of platinum awards and afterwards by the number of gold, silver, bronze and iron awards. Popular Designers
Popular Designers are shown at popdes.com This ranking system is based on impressions and number of times a designer's work and profile is viewed, it is a popularity ranking, suitable for identifying the designers that are most likely to gain organic media attention and media placements.
Scoring for Popular Designers
Popular Designer Score is calculated based on the number of profile and design impressions a designer has received. While there is a very high correlation with quality of awards won - for example; Platinum and Gold awards contributing more impressions, this particular ranking system is not based on merely design success but on public interest and coverage, within scope of our transparency policy, this is explained detailed at My Popular Designer Rankings page.
World Design Ratings
World Design Ratings are accessible at worlddesignratings.com This ranking system is tiered based on design achievement quality, and is suitable to identify designers, design agencies and brands that consistently deliver good design.
Scoring for World Design Ratings
The calculation of the World Design Ratings and Designer Honorifics is based on repeat success, in summary, there are many tiers and sub-tiers, to move within sub-tiers, you need to increase the number of awards won, to move between the tiers, you need to increase the quality of awards won; to give you an example, you cannot raise to the highest tier, unless you win several platinum achievements. This ranking system and the rating calculation is explained completely, in My World Design Ratings page, as part of our transparency policy, we make all design rating and ranking algorithms for ratings publicly available, not just the World Design Ratings.

Design Leaderboards are calculated based on time of award and the quality of award, and their sum following a reverse exponential curve based on 8-year time period, standard industrial life cycle of products where winning an award this year is much important that winning an award last year, the aim of this system is to highlight current leaders in design industry, thus the name Design Leaderboards.
