The Competition Score Sheet
Since a portion of designers join the competitions for self-improvement, A' Design Award & Competition provides each participant a score sheet that explains how the design was voted. The score sheet could be accessed from the control panel. Each design that was nominated for a A' Design Award recieves a score sheet, the score sheet contains summary of votes from each of the different Jury Members (Academic, Focus Group and Professional Jury Groups). You can benchmark your design with the rest; see your best scores and ratings, compare them with the avarage and reach the graphics. The score sheet shows your total score, normalized score and global ranking for the competition. See an executive summary for each section with graphics. We would like to note that, in addition to the competition score sheet, you will also receive feedbacks from different jury members, which could also be used to improve or assest your designs.
Jury Comments
When jury is voting for entries, a special input area is reserved for providing further input and suggestions to designers. Jury is not forced to comment on the nominations, however once they comment, their input will be saved and made accessible to designers at the end of the competition. Furthermore, designers also receive comments from the preliminary jury members who would provide their insights on the designs before the nomination; these insights usually cover presentation and category compliance information, and they are especially provided to push the presentation of the designs to a higher level meanwhile also standardizing them. This presentation improvement system intends to make sure that submitted entries compete fairly on their design quality instead of the presentation quality. By removing any biases that would result due to different initial presentation qualities, the competition becomes more fair and competitive.
Benchmarking
Both the score sheet and the jury comments help designers understand the potential of their work. For products, getting a score sheet and jury comments can be compared to having three focus groups evaluate their products; i.e. academicians, professionals, and the focus jury. For concept stage designs, the feedbacks in the form of jury comments and score sheet can provide designers hints to whether the design would become financially viable or not.
