| DESIGN NAME: DiDi table lamp PRIMARY FUNCTION: Table Lamp INSPIRATION: An application of new LED technology UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The DiDi collection consists of elements created for the specific use of LED strips high efficiency and low energy consumption. The supporting structure and the lighting elements blend together become one by getting a together strict, functional and homogeneous. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: A lamp that can live in a working environment such as in a home environment. The gaming double diffusion of light, direct and indirect, allowing you to have a pleasant and versatile lighting that fits well in any environment. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Structurally very simple consists of a sandwich structure, formed from sheets of Polycarbonate from 12 and 6 mm. thick, machined and laser, subsequently assembled. The fold of a corner of the two outer sheets of 6 mm., The desktop version, allows the creating a stable base of support. The dimensioning of the parts and the consequent manufacturing process have been studied to obtain the optimization of the raw material and ease of assembly. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 24x24x11 33x33x13 TAGS: LED, NEW, SOFT RESEARCH ABSTRACT: I would invite you to reflect on the power to change the public’s taste that the contours of cars have had on our society. The evolution of people’s taste is a direct consequence of the evolution of car styles. Did cars got squared-off shapes? Consequently the products we were offered, from furnishings to electrical appliances, had squared-off shapes. Do cars have soft, rounded profiles? Also products in daily use have the same shape characteristics. We do not realize it but every new detail developed in the motor industry has brought with it an involuntary, global, acute change of people’s tastes in general. This is due to the fact that this industry has always been in the front line as far as materials, technologies and manufacturing solutions are concerned and that once acquired have been used in other industries too. The last few years have seen a new phenomenon. Easy to come by electronics have their part in educating taste and generating need! If we did not have a mobile phone, we would not need a cover for it, or earphones, and the same is true for our tablets and personal computers. In these industrial fields just a few companies vie for the world market with the global diffusion of their products and the styles they propose which inevitably condition the aesthetic tastes of consumers around the world. Today we are witnessing a formal game of catch as catch can in spheres that go from home appliances to furnishings, inspired by the various electronic gadgets we can no longer do without. We all use these tools in our everyday lives and inevitably we are conditioned into modifying our general sense of the aesthetic. It is an involuntary form of education which designers and producers must take into account to make their products widespread consumer items. In my opinion, the profession and figure of the designer today, as far as product design is concerned, must be a union between an expert in marketing and a keen connoisseur of the new technologies and production processes, as well as, obviously having great skills in synthesis! CHALLENGE: The project is an application of the technology of the latest generation LED. It was practically impossible, until a few years ago, we can think of a lamp as the DiDI. For us, design is an interesting vehicle in optimizing lighting fixtures. The results are technical solutions that are specific in their field, as well as the creation of products that make progress available in an intelligent manner. Light becomes malleable and flexible, a personal experience. We like to call the ability to plan and carry out transformations that involve the temporal dimension “scenic lighting”. The potential of scenic lighting for architecture translates into an improvement in the quality of environments; it interacts with the user and captures attention. Colored light plays an important role in this concept, and we use light sources with dynamic color changes to produce it. The principle on which they are based is the additive chromatic synthesis of light sources that can be programmed separately by color, in red, green and blue (RGB technology). Light Innovation With the creation of ALTIS, in 2001 Gruppo Status presented its first LED products (Light Emitting Diode). Since then we have been involved in major developments in the technical features of LEDs. The introduction of electronic lighting technology and digital controls with DMX or DALI standard protocols makes managing an increasing number of individual parameters possible. Today, orientation lighting and decorative lights are already standardized with LEDs. This particular light source is likely to become more diffused, as it increasingly highlights the products’ unique characteristics, such as their long-term duration, improved efficiency (the ratio of the flux emitted and power absorbed), low maintenance cost, considerably smaller size compared to the other light sources and the ease of control and dimming. LEDs cannot be applied to traditional lighting, rather it is necessary to adapt them to this specific application. Through the company’s know-how, Altis verifies the designs of each LED fixture. They are mounted with optics with a high level of visual comfort and are treated to control heat dissipation, creating long lasting products. |
