Interview with Lichen Ding at Thursday 2nd of May 2019 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? LD: Inspired by the "five senses" of people, shape, sound, color, taste, touch, create an environment full of ecological atmosphere, rich in Zen details, colorful and exotic, giving people a quiet and quiet heart. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? LD: This case is centered on the key word "Tian Zi", which combines the four seasons in the culture of flowers, and adds elegance and rhyme to the solemnity. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? LD: Will continue to participate in the competition, so that people around the world to see the project. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? LD: 6 months FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? LD: The investigation and analysis of the project environment, combined with the modern elements to play the traditional Chinese cultural characteristics in the design, bring unique charm and competitiveness. FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? LD: The combination of classical Chinese style and fashion shows a sturdy culture, fascinating and noble. In the low-key, it shows extravagance, and the pursuit of humanity in elegance. FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept? LD: The original structure of the column is very much, through the space design, clever layout to resolve these drawbacks. There are also some very narrow aisles that are perfectly utilized and make the spatial layout of the traditional Chinese culture "gossip", which is very impressive. FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? LD: After a period of understanding on the competition website, I deeply felt the charm of the competition. The page pictures on the website were beautiful, and the rules and fees of the competition made people feel friendly. FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work? LD: I think in our career, in addition to doing some business projects, it will be more meaningful to participate in social projects. Otherwise, our career can only make the world look better, better looking and more useful. That’s all. Here I want to quote a famous saying. “We don’t ask to be eternal beings, we only ask that things do not lose all their meaning.” — Antoine De Saint Exupéry
