Interview with Daria Zhiliaeva at Monday 14th of April 2014 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? DZ: My graduate collection is about femininity and masculinity, strength and fragility. The collection's inspiration comes from an old Russian fairy tale. The Hostess of the Copper Mountain is a magic patron of miners. In this collection you can see the beautiful marriage of straight lines, as inspired by miner's uniforms, and the graceful volumes of Russian national costume. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? DZ: 9 months FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? DZ: It is the name of Russian fairy tale that I like a lot FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? DZ: I have found the real vintage miner's jacket and recreated it for my research. Also I made a lot of drawings and paintings, that were finally printed on linen for my collection
