The 5-part publication is a folk song book containing 1100 songs with notes and lyrics from the Pszczyna region in Poland, intended for folk choirs, ensambles and musicians. The design is inspired by the manuscript and typewriter effects. The names of chapters are printed on bleeds and represent typewriting errors crossovers (“xxx”) visually similar to folkwear patterns. The use of 3 colors (dark burgundy, blue and violet) refers to the ink used in manuscripts. 5 notebooks in a common etui are handy to use when singing and easily photocopyable, due to the a4 format.
Dr Aleksandra Toborowicz is a Polish graphic designer, muralist, painter and academic teacher – Professor Assistant and Head of the Lettering and Typography Studio and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Graphics Art at the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, Poland. PhD degree (Doctor of Arts) at the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow in 2015. In 2008 graduated from the Faculty of Graphics Art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow (Poland). DESIGNER / PAINTER / MURALIST / LECTURER Graphic designer, designing mostly for typography, publishing, murals and installations. For 27 years, the Community Cultural Center in Suszec has led culture activities: sharing, educating, and supporting local artistic projects and artists. Alongside this, the center has helped citizens to access and make better use of their public resources and rights, organize volunteers and support local NGOs. The center operates in the 6 villages comprising the Suszec area with a population of about 12,000. Each week, the center leads classes for around 500 people in 45 groups and organizes cultural events. In addition to this, it offers special holiday activities for children and youths. The center works with the local community to promote many other culture projects centered around the arts, ranging from those focused on local heritage to well-known opera and theatre pieces. An important element of the center’s program is collaboration with other cultural institutes, organizers, and cultural activist throughout all of Poland. The center was recognized in several publications and rewarded by the National Centre for Culture Poland.
