The “Barn by a river” project meets the challenge of creating the inhabited space, basing on the ecological involvement, and suggests specific local solution of the architecture and landscape’s interpenetration problem. Traditional archetype of the house is brought to the asceticism of its forms. Cedar shingle of the roof and green schist walls conceal the building in the grass and bushes of the man-made landscape. Behind the glass wall the rocky riverside comes into view.

The costumer of “Barn by a river” is a businessman and likes court tennis. Therefore, there is an open tennis court built in a 1-hectare land lot. There is a foundation of the main house built in the land lot, which is currently at the design stage. Building of the guest house and spa is based on the costumer’s will to start playing in the court immediately. The owner of the land lot is an open and sociable man, who enjoys spending time in big groups of friends and inviting them in. The mistress, on the other hand, appreciates privacy, reads a lot and does yoga.
