Re-design of the identity for documentary film festival DocumentArt located in Neubrandenburg. After having been more or less erased during the 2. World War, the town has had to re-invent itself with the medieval city wall as remaining frame. The festival reflects that tendency to look forward and let the town be a stage for art, film, theatre and music with an international outlook. Our identity concept was the same, a stage where anything can happen. The idea was to create a bang, and then remain coherent but playful, and challenge each media, each year while still keeping recognizability.
Young and restless freelance designer specialized in visual identity and concept development, who aims to work with a social and sustainable agenda and a story to tell. To her, design is esthetic communication, and humans need to communicate to truly create change. She loves to fuse and juxtapose scandinavian lightness and elegance with playful and vibrant references to other cultures. She likes to explore materials and re-think resources, and constantly tries to make her work detail oriented but with a lightness to it.
Lorenz is a just-graduated graphic designer from Berlin, Germany. Amanda-Li is an MA student and freelance designer from Copenhagen, Denmark. This is the first, but hopefully not last collaborative project. DokumentArt reached out to Kunsthochschule Weißensee where they were both studying and their offer was chosen for realization but the festival. That was the beginning of an ongoing collaboration and the team are currently working on the development of the visual identity for 2016, that marks the 25th anniversary of the film festival and will include a publication and exhibition also visualized by Lorenz and Amanda-Li.
