Scottie draws its inspiration from the features of a hot water bottle. Initially, it was developed for people with rheumatic problems. When you attach it to the radiator, with the taps, it fills with hot water and the chair will warm up. In summer, it can also be used to cool down, when adding cold water to it. Scottie can both be used indoors as well as outdoors. The chair is made from hollow steel pipes, bent by hand, welded and powder coated.
Fabrique Publique is the design studio set up by Hanneke de Leeuw in 2014, after graduation from Sint Lukas in Brussels (Belgium). With its designs, Fabrique Publique tells stories in which the user is or has to become involved, either physically or mentally. The designs range from furniture, to jewellery, films and architectural interventions. Fabrique Publique’s designs have been nominated in design competitions and have been exposed regularly at designs shows such as Design September (Brussels), Dutch Design Week, Helsinki Design Week and Salone del Mobile (Milan).
