Its predecessor was the North College of Beijing University of Chemical Technology, an outstanding independent college in China. In 2013, it was transferred to Yenching Institute of Technology with the approval of the Ministry of Education. In 2016, it was selected as a master's degree awarding project construction unit in Hebei Province, and is the first batch of transformation and development demonstration universities in Hebei Province.
