With experience in product design, visual communication, and interdisciplinary collaboration, he focuses on addressing everyday needs while reflecting local identity and promoting sustainable values. His design process is rooted in field observation and community engagement, exploring how design can support education, public services, and cultural continuity. Recognized as one of Taoyuan City’s Top Ten Outstanding Youths, Chang has received honors from the MUSE Design Awards, IDA Design Awards, the British Art and Design Competition, and the BIAF Busan Design Awards. His work reflects a long-term commitment to socially and culturally grounded design.
STATEMENT OF ART:I believe design grows from the land and serves the people. It is not ornament, but a response to daily life—not just about form, but a way to express meaning. Design should live alongside culture and engage in conversation with nature. It holds memory and helps shape what’s ahead.
My work begins with observation—understanding places and their stories. Each project becomes an exchange with the environment, community, and heritage. Though often quiet, these works speak to the needs of the present.
Design can connect, restore, guide, and challenge. I aim to reveal what’s hidden, highlight what’s forgotten, and bring tradition into the now.
Design is not just making—it’s a way of paying attention.
