She serves as an Advisory Board Member at the Sabanci School of Business and is recognized as a thought leader in technology and an author for Vogue.
Before embarking on her entrepreneurial journey, she held strategic leadership positions in the technology sector, focusing on brand-driven roles. She spent seven years at Google and held strategic roles at Microsoft and Turkcell.
She is widely respected as an author, advocate for women's rights, and brand advisor in the US and EMEA regions. Based in Istanbul and New York, House of Sól (HoS) is a distinctive fine jewelry brand founded in 2021 by Nazlican Yöney, the Founder CEO, and Creative Director. The brand finds its inspiration in the stories and precious stones of Asia Minor, with each piece handcrafted using traditional methods as "wearable contemporary art" in the hidden tunnels of the Grand Bazaar, Istanbul. House of Sól, meaning "the dynasty of the Sun," symbolizes the brand's homage to the Sun and its celebration of independent women who are unapologetically themselves. HoS pieces are designed to serve as a suit of armor for women. Rather than catering to a niche clientele, we aim to create some of the most cherished items for the modern woman; pieces that serve as a shield, whether for steering a company, attending a dinner, or in court during a divorce from a boring husband. Our Founder Nazlican, born and raised in a Russian and Arabic family, is the great-granddaughter of a late Ottoman grand vizier. With a background in political science and an MBA, Nazlican has worked at Microsoft and Google while exploring porcelain and gold forming techniques in her studio. To master her craft, Nazlican frequented the Grand Bazaar every weekend for years, where she had the privilege of learning from the masters themselves, gaining expertise in metal hammering, sourcing stones, and designing timeless pieces. As a political scientist, Nazlıcan believes that our choice of attire tells a unique story about us: our current state, where and how we aspire to be, how we wish to be perceived, what we want to express, and how we feel about our societal role amid extensive social interactions. This is the foundation upon which HoS pieces are conceived, situated at the crossroads of feminism, politics, contemporary art, and well, Turquerie. Committed to working with indigenous artisans and natural materials, while also preserving time-honored culture by sharing stories and promoting sustainability, House of Sól is proudly a limited edition brand. Each model is designed with passion, each material is ethically sourced, and each piece is handcrafted by a team of master artisans. Thanks to the brand's signature, HoS Lock design, each necklace in the collection allows for versatility, enabling women to use a single lock for multiple necklace rows. House of Sól's designs and the developments needed for their execution took years to perfect and are protected by copyrights and patents. Each piece is numbered and availability is limited, especially due to natural constraints. If our search for exquisite gemstones yields only enough for ten necklaces, there won't be an eleventh.
