View Larger Image and Additional Photos of Yuk King HuiAbout Yuk King Hui : Coming from a family of jewellers and being exposed to the business early on, Yukking is forging her path as a designer and entrepreneur. She established her jewellery brand, Ikku Fine Jewellery, in 2020 to provide customers with a reasonably priced fine jewellery line of contemporary designs. From a young age, Yukking has been drawn to gems and jewellery, believing not just in their intrinsic beauty, but in the symbolism and personal meaning behind each piece. Growing up between the U.K and Hong Kong, she was constantly surrounded by art, as well as visually rich and multicultural environments. After graduating from London College of Fashion with a degree in Fashion Design, she continued her study in Luxury Jewellery Management(MA) from Birmingham City University and Diamond Graduate from Gemological Institute of America.
I came from a family of jewelleries and having the privilege of being exposed to an endless amount of jewelleries and all things design from my early childhood has forged me going down the artistic path. Since I was 13, I have been travelling to different countries frequently to attend all of the biggest jewellery shows in the world with my family. At the same time, having lived in the U.K. for more than half of my life has really allowed me to stand out among my peers due to cultural differences. On top of that, I have also acquired a Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design from London College of Fashion and a Master’s degree in Luxury Jewellery Management from Birmingham City University. Being able to study in one of the best design universities in the world has taught me the concept of design and how to transfer ideas to reality. Nevertheless, it has also influenced my designs which are contemporary yet classic.
Many may ask, why did I study fashion? Since a young age, I have always had a great passion for art and have been awarded scholarships throughout my whole secondary school and Master's Degree. My Art teachers had a great influence on me, they have helped me find my path and encourage me to explore the unknown. Coming from a family of jewellers naturally, I have the pressure of going down the same path but at the same time I know, if I didn’t go and explore I may come to regret it later in my career path. Fashion Design allows me to have a greater understanding of the human body, of what we need and how we can be dressed. To me, anything we put on our body is ‘accessories’, including clothes. Having studied and learned the concept of fashion has definitely shaped me into being a better jewellery designer. It is only natural if we have learnt about the big concept before we go in for any details, right?
I started my own jewellery line - Ikku fine jewellery in 2020. Trying to implant the idea of buying quality jewellery you are investing in your future to all of my customers. Unlike clothes, all of my pieces are crafted from 18k gold, precious and semi-precious stones that can be passed through the generations or recycled to create new contemporary pieces. I take pride in creating jewellery from the finest materials that my customers will also be proud of. My pieces are often inspired by the natural world. Nature is constantly reminding us of its beauty every day and my goal is to capture that in all of my pieces and transform it into a piece of wearable art.
