To use art and design and creativity to uplift people. To get people off the streets or bad situations into the business and teach them, mentor them and give them a skill and most of all to give back. This is what the business or vision or goal is all about. Every piece that is designed or created is aimed to reach this goal.
Albert Potgieter was a Physiotherapist, but started the business in Furniture design to give back to those that haven’t been given the opportunities that he has.
Albert Potgieter regards what he achieves not as important, but what is important, is the why behind the what. The ‘why’ that drives the business to do better, to reach for more and to keep fighting. Art and design is an amazing way to break boundaries down and to reach places and spaces that most things can’t. We as artist have the privilege to have a reach into peoples homes and have an impact on peoples inner most, safe places. Every piece that the designer or artist makes carries a piece of themselves within the art. In this way we can tell stories, share emotions or concepts, change peoples way of perspective or even have an impact or uplift people through those stories. This is so powerful and such a great responsibility and opportunity for each and every artist. The window to the soul and heart is through the eyes and that is the primary objective of art. It’s to be visually pleasing, to catch attention, to pull the client in through what they see firstly. If you can do that, then the affect of your art will go deeper.
