About Joseph Koizen : I served my country for over 20 years and now in my post-Air Force life I want to explore my creative side a bit more. Living in Austin has provided an opportunity for to become a real estate developer. Having designed and built two LEED Platinum homes, I found a passion for building responsibly and with the environment one of my primary concerns. It is in this that I began to see the potential for re-purposing construction materials into something like the i-Lamp. STATEMENT OF ART:I like figuring out how things are made. As a home builder, I can watch a project from acquiring the land, designing it, and finally constructing and selling it. Along the way there are many opportunities to build responsibly, to divert waste materials from landfills and to be environmentally responsible. Given this, i'm constantly on the look-out for construction materials that can be re-purposed into something new. This is how the i-Lamp came about.
