DESIGN NAME: Ruumy
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Multifunctional Furniture
INSPIRATION: Social movements, trends studied, people around, the wishes, demands of customers, the very rapid advancement of the technology, all these leads to the questions, How would it be if the wall of this room would also serve as a cabinet? What if the cabinet would become a coat? How would it be if you can dress the wall? The project is creating an online community of customers, to exchange or borrow pieces, what is old for you, it is new to me, that would promote contacts between newcomers and local people.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Ruumy is a range of modular furniture with a design that can be combined to form room dividers, home decor panels, cabinets or even garments, and allows fast and easy packing. The design allows the wardrobe to transform into a garment, a bag or home decor. Carefully made of soft material, Ruumy is a modular cabinet in the shape of a puzzle with up to 10 highly functional end uses.
The first aim is to help frequent movers to keep and easily transport some of their furniture.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Ruumy is an object with a geometric shape that has the appearance of a puzzle wall, and whose parts have, by dismantling, mounting them using the zippers, different utilities. Depending on the number of parts and types of connectors, straps, accessories, you use, you can create different design objects, fashion garments. Partition Wall, Cabinet, Pillows, Tent, Hammock, Mobile Library, Shoe Organizers, Blanket, Sleeping Bag, Vertical Garden, Sofa Cushion, Outside Garment, Handbags, Travel Bags.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in May 2017, and was exhibited in Galateca Gallery, Bucharest in July 2017, Exhibition DIPLOMA The Institute, Bucharest in October 2017, 15Design Gallery, Bucharest in May 2018, Romanian Design Week 2018 Bucharest in May 2018, Exhibition Zain design expressions Cluj Napoca in October 2018, The National Salon of Contemporary Art National Library of Romania in November 2018.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Our vision is that Ruumy is not thrown away, but can be exchanged in the online community. This way we can reduce the environmental pollution with the production of new textiles and increase the life of the product. The zipper system allows the user to transform his wardrobe into a garment, bag or home decor. We are using recycled materials, ends of textile bundle, and materials produced in small communities of craftsmen with local tradition.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Ruumy is a multifunctional modular textile puzzle where you can store things, you can pack it with ease in a special bag for ruumy parts, with a weight of under 5 kilograms for a textile wall of 250 cm width, and 250 cm height, 49 small ruumy parts.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Ruumy develops into a thinking program that creates a new media with projects, applied in co-design, sustainability, community, internet culture. Ruumy NetWorking is a co-creative program with the mission of inspiring a new way of thinking about aesthetics, function and role of the object in today's civilization, how we build our own life forms. The project started with 21 people from different cultural elites, they composed the desired pieces in a standard time, a project being filmed and documented.
CHALLENGE: Ruumy is a product of the new Post Internet Culture era, specific to the co-creative ecosystem, economy, with motto The Power of Ecosystems - Managing in a Networked World. Once launched, becomes a relatively autonomous system of self-adjustment, and those who integrate resources are connected to communication networks and create mutual values. The difficulty of the project was to create creative, sustainable, innovative communities capable of changing mentalities in cultural and economic terms.
