| DESIGN NAME: Flip Flops PRIMARY FUNCTION: Poster INSPIRATION: The fresh and colored image show the artists legs touching the living room carpet in summer but easily remind the viewer of tiles in an old swimming pool far beneath the surface. The idea of jumping off the pool edge into a different underwater universe becomes vivid as the artist is sitting on the living room couch hoping for more inspiration to come. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The colourful illustration Flip Flop reminds one of a warm summer day spend at a fresh swimming pool. However, what we see in the picture is the artists living room carped. While drawing her feet Miriam Trilety recognized the unique pattern. The geometrical and colored details of the coincidental image develop a sudden esthetic sense. The image leads the viewer into a mosaic phantasy of a summer holiday trip. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This project was developed as a motif for print products. The advantage of the digital production is the versatile applicability in different print areas. As the selection of mockups shows, the project is suitable for outdoor use, as an indoor poster, but also for publication in magazines, or as a book cover. This goal is a far-reaching visibility of the illustration in different media spaces. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The poster was created on the 10th of August 2018 in Vienna. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: This Poster was entirely created digitally with Procreate on iPad Pro. Procreate, SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: digital Image, original dimension: 29,7 x 42cm, 300dpi, rgb TAGS: flipflops, summer, blue, water, rug, colourful, illustration, dreaming RESEARCH ABSTRACT: It was a day full of creative self-doubt and the feeling of not having helpful ideas. The decision to create this illustration was inspired by self doubt and a sudden inspiration by the personal surrounding. CHALLENGE: Not every image is planned well ahead, some others, like this one, come into being while working on it. The illustration Flip Flop came to life through a failed drawing of the artists feet, that turned into a colourful homage to warm summer days. NAME: Miriam Trilety PROFILE: Miriam Trilety is an artist, illustrator and psychotherapist. This diverse background merges in an extraordinary approach to arts and design, as her work shows a slightly odd habit of constantly observing and questioning everything in a quite ironical and satirical manner. She offers graphic and communication design for individuals as well as companies. Among her clients are the University of Vienna, the Austrian Academy of Sciences and several artists and musicians. In 2013 a collection of anecdotes by the physicist Walter Thirring were published by Seifert Publishing with illustrations by Miriam Trilety. In January 2015 she developed the corporate Design and illustrations for the Association for Aesthetics and Applied Cultural Theory in Vienna. Moreover Miriam Trilety is a lecturer for illustration at Zeichenfabrik (Training Institute for Visual Arts) in Vienna, Austria. |
