The old house has completely become ruins. Its building area is only 96 square meters. The old houses have collapsed. Designers have incorporated modern elements into the Suzhou architectural style, and the old houses which were already ruins have become very characteristic, simple and fashionable dwellings.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Daylighting and ventilation through the patio: the old home is located in a historically protected block and must be built on a hard mountain roof in accordance with the Soviet style. Move the patio from the original entrance door to the center of the house, use the patio to achieve daylighting and ventilation, and add extra large glass windows to the east side of the only lighting, so that the indoor light is more abundant.
Space utilization: Due to the planning, the height of the old house is strictly limited, the design plan increases the attic, the use space becomes larger, and the relative floor height is also lower. For the size control is very strict, such as cement pouring floor can only be 10cm thick, the drainage pipe in the floor can only be pre-buried in the roof steel beam.
Waterproof renovation: The south of the Jiangnan area is rainy, so the first floor of the old house is very humid, and the wall coatings all use flexible waterproof coating. In addition to the addition of water collection wells on the patio, the public walkway and the waterproofing of the wall adjacent to the perimeter are also taken into account.
CHALLENGE: The original old house had five doors in and out, and now only the second door has been retained. As the years changed, the entrance door of the old house was originally on the relatively open east side, and now it has been moved to the dark and narrow public walkway. On the edge of the entrance door is a long and narrow public passage, which is the only passage for all the residents in the alley. The passage to the old house is 90cm at the widest point, and the narrowest point is only 70cm. The distance from the street to the old house is about There are 100m and the curve is narrow, material transportation has become a big problem. The old house has only the east side wall with light, the north side wall and the west side wall structure are loose, and it is closely adjacent to the wall of the neighbor's house. The adhesion between the walls is very complicated, and the wall is 30cm thick and long 10meters, if the old wall is removed, it will inevitably affect the surrounding wall structure.
