DESIGN NAME: Coppercraft
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Spirits Packaging
INSPIRATION: We researched the history of Holland, Michigan and its rich heritage of fine craftsmen and artisans. We discovered much of the historic architecture was designed in the Art Deco style and used this to inspire the design of the custom bottle. Key insights about craft spirits consumers lead to us develop an authentic story and positioning for the brand that leveraged the local history and other regional insights that drove much of the design for the branding and packaging.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Coppercraft is a boutique distillery located in Holland Michigan. Originally settled in 1847 by Dutch emigrants, Holland epitomizes the small-town American dream. Coppercraft handmakes their premium small-batch spirits using authentic ingredients grown by local farmers. Coppercraft is differentiated from their competition by leveraging local ingredients and by placing a priority on their branding and packaging including investing in a custom glass bottle.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The custom glass bottle includes messaging about the premium nature of the product and the front label has a custom developed “Proudly Crafted in Holland, MI” seal that includes a tulip icon we developed that speaks to the area’s incredible history of growing Tulips. The bottles were all screen printed with the brand logo. The custom closure is crafted from natural wood with a copper metal inset around the circumference and an inset coin on the top of the closure.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: -
CHALLENGE: The substantial custom glass and overall branding is highly crafted down to the smallest details and utilizes the finest materials to visually set the brand apart from the competition as a super-premium offering. The craft spirits consumers are loyal to authentic brands whose ingredients are locally sourced, produced, and hand-crafted in small batches. Packaging that communicates these key messages provides an authentic and premium choice for the consumer.
