| DESIGN NAME: Pudong Funlife PRIMARY FUNCTION: Food mall and residential INSPIRATION: Welcome home! We want to attract all customers to back "this home" before they go home! Feel free like walking on the local shanghai street, enjoy the traditional food! I explored Shanghai local street, noticed that many interesting elements can be used! Such as light bulb lights, looks messy but useful drainage tube...etc UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: We converted an old building into "Home feeling food mall" and residential area. Welcome home is the main concepts by using interesting SH elements Traditional Chinese food stall will be the mall's attractive point, you can find different local Chinese food from first floor. 2nd floor will be restaurant and 3rd is educational center. 4-5 floor is residential area OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: If you feel you are walking on the street, smell the food that you used to eat at your childhood, free comfortable to meet friends or family there, enjoy an unique taste of local Chinese food. Then Funlife food mall is the first choice! Its a very welcome mall, a big entrance without doors, double height food stall allow you to walk through all stalls, light bulbs lighting is the typical design in SH, relaxing mood is always just like back home! PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started at March 2016 and finished in Nov 2017 FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Interior Space and Exhibition Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Aluca Aluminium Panel, local Chinese tiles, bronze metal tube, plastic tube SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: At main entrance, we used 5000mm long aluminum panel. all floor tiles are local sourced. Metal tube and plastic tube are typical 100mm diameter with new painted colour. TAGS: Welcome home RESEARCH ABSTRACT: We tried to create "home" feeling, that's why we used " House" shaped as the main entrance shop's portal. Welcome home is the slogan for this project. As 4-5 floor is residential area. "street" feeling and neighbor community is our insights. New opened window and louver to conceal all air-conditioning ventilation, improve the façade design into more modern and clean look. CHALLENGE: Almost all food stall have balcony feeling, and it is hard to control tenants to design a nice balcony, have to encourage them to use accessories or plants to decorate. Colour control and food stalls selection is also important. We also create a skylight over the staircase, so you can feel the natural light and weather.
