| DESIGN NAME: ICEBERG PRIMARY FUNCTION: Lighting INSPIRATION: Iceberg is named after its form and its a design manifest based on the combination of lighting and artistic point of view. Iceberg expresses the flexibility, fluid, moldable and reincarnated structure of glass. Light always warms up the places. By using glass and named it iceberg ,this is a protest of traditional opinions. Also our motive was support and help hand workmanship while we created this project. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The production adventure started with melting crystal glass fragments in specially prepared molds. And it continues with a stratification of the glass in the molds after a waiting period of 27 days. Afterwards glass is removed from the molds and steamed by a special process. Then, the steamed glass is agglutinated with the bronze body. This process also takes some time to finnish and become a whole object, handmade process takes time to arise expressive designs. The height, length and weight of design is acceptable for transport easily. Handmade glass parts are unique and different so when we fabricated it every new design also become unique. In nature every iceberg has own size and looks, like our designs. Design also represent day light and nature. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: All the story based on a trial idea, which seemed to be very fragile at first. In the beginning, while trying create glass sticks it were shattered and broke. Trying to take out glass in molds was unsuccessful. Later on to make them strong for accomplishment, we used high qualified glass for design and made them refrigerated very slowly than before. In the end our glass iceberg scones trials become success. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in January 2015 and finished February 2015 in Istanbul. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Glass is the best material used in the lighting designs frequently for years because of the transmission, reflection and refraction of lights. In our design production, we mentioned another technique which is very unique, difficult to copy or produce identical one. In our design the melted glass with a mat finishing is combined to become whole with the help of bronze holdings. Crystal iceberg scones are well prepared for technical damages however it is sensitive in a way because of glass material. Preprations goes with carefull moves and thoroughness. We prepared handmade molds for glass pairs. First different sized glass pieces melted in molds we made then cooled with a special technique. For installation we made holes on glass parts to assemble with main brass construction. So installation is not visible from the front. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Width:21 x Heigh 43 cm TAGS: lighting, glass, bronze, unique, iceberg, design, RESEARCH ABSTRACT: As an architect I always find a gap in lightning designs in all kinds of categories like modern or classic styles. In my professional designer life my priority is always working on and create timeless designs like not fitting only, unperminant fashion periods or specific time periods. My main principle is defying customers' identity, desires and dreams as 'creating lean and timeless spaces and designs' by adding my own professional experience and imagination. Our designs should have, small details that a qualified eye can see, masive stance that shows itself and traditional technique which cannot be copied. CHALLENGE: Iceberg is one of the most valuable pieces among the artisanal pieces of the Bou Art & Design collection. Iceberg design explains, the structure of the glass as flexible, fluid, transforming into different shapes and reaping life again and again. This valuable, meaningful design not become a whole and form an a easy way. In design's forming stage, we overcome some challenges like other designers. When we tried handmade mold firstly, the glass broke while forming to a glass stick. Then we created an new idea to form an bold, strong glass iceberg scones by the help of using qualified glass and made them refrigerated very slowly than before.
