DESIGN NAME: Dods
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Interior Design
INSPIRATION: The inspiration for this project came from a desire to help Dods develop a better workspace for people to do their best work. FUNCTION plays a dominant role in creating areas where people would find new ways to work. The Grand Hall is a locker area, but actually it is a meeting area that forces people to be together. The Shard is an inspirational building to be in and allowed the design of a Winter Garden on the 11th floor - it is amazing.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Located in one of Londons most iconic buildings (The Shard). Dods were located in a post war building that offered no opportunity for people circulation, warm desking and soft meeting areas. Woodalls approached this project with their Sen5e process that takes a wholistic approach to interior design and FUNCTION. This process asks the difficulty questions at the beginning and it provided a very deep partnership with the client. The winter garden is very special.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The operation of this project and better result is firmly based on how people move around the office.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Duration - 8 weeks
Location - The Shard, located in the London Bridge Quarter. Build in 2012 by Stellar Property Group at a cost of £435m The Shard is currently the tallest building in the UK standing at 309.6 metres.
The building is a wonderful piece of architecture that dominates the London skyline.
