| DESIGN NAME: Dance PRIMARY FUNCTION: Earrings INSPIRATION: Inspired by the movement of jelly fish, the free-form wave pattern symbolizes the sea and the shape represent the feminine. After close observations of the movement of the jellyfish, I designed to use a pair of earrings emulating the looks of jellyfish. The designer strived to embrace new look and minimal design, eventually developing the unique style from nature as a jewelry designer. This pair of earrings is slightly different with each other which represent the uniqueness of the nature. It combines high tech and delicate craftsmanship in micro setting; stylish and strong vision to create timeless. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The main goal of this project was to create a minimal and elegant design to represent the beauty of jellyfish and woman. The design can separate into upper part and lower part .The upper part of the earrings could be turned around like a translucent umbrella with the lower part of the earrings, set with diamond, resembling the tentacles of the jellyfish. Therefore, the design can swing according to the people who moved. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The minimal but elegant design could be worn by ladies of all ages to match with their evening gowns. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project was completed in 2013 in Hong Kong |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The pair of earrings designed with 925 silver, black plated and brilliant cut diamonds. The upper part can move in 360-degree with sparking diamonds. The second part is designed in modern shape with micro pave setting and it can swing separately. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Length: 10 cm width : 2.5x2.5 cm TAGS: earrings, silver, minimal, diamonds, jewelry, natural, design, modern, unique, structure RESEARCH ABSTRACT: My researches in this project were mainly on the movement of jellyfish. Use minimal pattern and form to recreate the jellyfish into a pair of earrings. CHALLENGE: The most difficult part was created the jellyfish into jewelry design. Since the structure of jellyfish was free form. Therefore, I combined a lot of freestyle pattern into a piece of jewelry to show the movement of jewelry.
