DESIGN NAME: Ergon
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Design Workstation
INSPIRATION: As designers ourselves, we have gone through the process of looking for the perfect workstation to help us do our work with ease and speed. But most of the products out there were lacking something: The ability to get personal. Thus, we were inspired to create a customizable workstation, with high aesthetic value inspired by Architecture and geometry.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: "Ergon" is a workstation designed for product, graphic, and digital/web designers. It is utilitarian since it is adapted to the needs of the target audience of the modern era. It has plenty of customizable storing facilities and it is connected to socket, providing power for the necessary equipment and USB splitters. Inspired by the clean lines of contemporary design and modern architecture, "Ergon" is an object with high aesthetic value, ideal for designers.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: It hosts a removable design surface, with a cutting surface on the opposite side for the construction of models. It has facilities for storing peripherals such as external hard drives. It has 8 specially designed cases on the left and right of the drawing area that can be shuffled: a pencil case, cases for tablet/smartphone, business cards, a base with cork layer for placing hot or cold beverages, two sockets that can accommodate tablet pens and a case for memo-stickers.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in November and finished in February in Athens, Greece.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: We did a long research on different types of designers and their needs, workstations, competitors, materials, production technologies and the current design status quo. Interviews were followed by video observation, mock ups, user testing and computer analysis and changes over changes until we reached the desired end result.
CHALLENGE: A big challenge was to create a workstation that could satisfy all types of designers and still be customizable and beautiful. Designers have very high standards, we look at things around us and see ways to make them better. Creating something that designers would approve and use as a tool to help them do their work easier, faster and more pleasurable was the hardest part of this design
