DESIGN NAME: Forklift Simulator
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Dedicated device
INSPIRATION: Different car and tractor simulators
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: A simulator for forklift operator from Sheremetyevo-Cargo designed to train beginner forklift drivers to operate the machine. It consists of an open cabin, that rotates on a platform, to make an effect of motion. The cabin includes a folding panoramic screen, a control system, sitting place and a compartment for computer at the back. Simulator is thought to be made of metal with plastic elements and supplemented with ergonomic onlays made of integral polyurethane foam.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: A trainee operator lifts the folding screen, sits on the place, moves the screen down and start to operate simulator as if he operates real forklift.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in September 2014 in Moscow and finished in December 2014, and was exhibited at the North Cargo Terminal Complex, Sheremetyevo International Airport in January 2015.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Firstly plastic analogues were analyzed, after that sketches were made to find out shaping lines and form of the product, then it was modeled using Autodesk 3ds Max and visualized via V-Ray and a scaled model was made.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Width 900 mm* Depth 1700 mm* Hight 1875 mm

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Research was made to understand, how do simulators work, so analogues were found and analyzed; to find the form and appropriate distances between object parts sketches and search scale models were made, using specially made human ergonom. After all work was done, the article "Usage of Structural Form Making Features when Man-Made System Designing" about simulators importance was written and published. Also the materials were used at the conference "Design Sphere of the 21th Century. On the Way Toward New Education Paradigm".
CHALLENGE: One of the hardest parts was to find analogues for inspiration, that were not only good-looking, but useful.
