| DESIGN NAME: Grille PRIMARY FUNCTION: Barbeque Restaurant INSPIRATION: Minimal architectural articulation was done to the core and shell of the space. The existing wall and ceiling was restored to a natural concrete look and the existing floor tile was replaced with a exposed sealed concrete finish. However, a color scheme contrasting the shell is used for a warmer dining experience. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The project turned an existing rundown motorcycle repair shop located in the northern part of Macau into a brand new artisan Barbeque Bistro. The biggest challenge of the project is to satisfy the client’s aggressive programmatic need in such a small space with a very tight budge. The design progress began with figuring a way to fit 40 seats in the 44 m2 dining area. A total construction budget of HK$320,000 was set at the beginning of the project. Our solution was to maintain the industrial aspect of the space by minimally finished the walls and ceiling with a “raw and unfinished” texture.
