| DESIGN NAME: Angels OR Demons PRIMARY FUNCTION: Jewellery INSPIRATION: We constantly witness the battle between good and bad, darkness and light, chaos and order, war and peace, hero and villain. Regardless of our religion or nationality, we have been told the story of our constant companions: an angel sitting on our right shoulder and a demon on the left. The angel persuades us to do good and records our good deeds. The devil persuades us to do bad and keeps record of our bad deeds. The angel is a metaphor for our "superego" and the devil stands for "Id". They represent the constant battle between the conscience and the unconscious. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: It is for the first time, that this concept has been used in Jewellery. The pieces come with a story and a meaning. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: - PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: I first came up with this idea in 2011 and I started working on it a few months later. I faced so many technical difficulties due to the unique design of this particular piece. The design process of this collection is over but the production of the pieces is still ongoing with many unique designs on the way. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Due to the highly detailed nature of this design, the production faced some difficulties and the design had to be improved. Because of the unique shape of the wings in order to have the earrings attached to the ear we had to put in both a pin and a cuff. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The earrings have been designed to follow the natural curve of the ear. TAGS: Jewellery, earring, Angel, Demon, unique, gold, silver, RESEARCH ABSTRACT: I came up with the idea of Angels Or Demons in 2011. This almost international belief inspired me to create a collection for both men and women. It took me a long time to come up with the correct shape of the Angel, the Demon and the correct size and shape of the wings. I also consulted a designer about the engineering side of the pieces. Due to their unique shape and size, we needed extra support and to achieve this I decided to put a cuff on top of the wings. CHALLENGE: We constantly witness the battle between good and bad, darkness and light, chaos and order, war and peace, hero and villain.
