| DESIGN NAME: LoveAmme TailorMade Pro 2 PRIMARY FUNCTION: Breast Pump INSPIRATION: Many breast pumps in the market do not truly understand how challenging a mother’s breastfeeding journey can be, resulting in many bad experiences. As pumping becomes a daily routine for many months to come after giving birth, a breast pump quickly becomes a must-have accessory when leaving the home. For aesthetics, we went for understated elegance and wanted a breast pump that emulates the user’s individuality instead of being seen merely as a utilitarian device. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: TailorMade Pro 2 is the smallest hospital-grade double breast pump in the industry. Silent and compact, it fits and harmonises easily with essentials in work bags a mother never leaves home without daily. It is designed with emotion, and engineered for personalised comfort and maximum milk yield through pulsating lights, proprietary programming of suction strength and frequency. All aspects of the design from aesthetics to function are based on user feedback and backed by lactation experts. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Follow the steps to use the LoveAmme TailorMade Pro 2 Breast Pump System: Step 1: Assemble the expression kit to the breast pump. Step 2: Gently tap and hold the power icon to power up the breast pump. Step 3: From the touch interface, select which breast to set the setting for - the left breast, right breast or both breasts. Step 4: Select suction frequency (Stimulation, Expression or Deep Expression) and suction power (power level 1 to 6). Focus on the pulsating light to calm down and regulate breathing. The pulsating light strip is on by default and can be toggled on or off by preference. With unprecedented flexibility of customising settings for each individual breast, mothers can now express milk faster, more thoroughly, and in greater comfort. TailorMade Pro 2 is specially designed by mums, for mums. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The overall size is 128mm(W) x 102mm(D) x 62mm(H) TAGS: LoveAmme TailorMade Pro 2, Double Electric Breast Pump, Breastfeeding, Maternity, Mother, Baby, Luxury, Lactation, Pregnant, Hospital Grade RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The breast pump market is projected to surpass $1.5 Billion by 2025, fuelled by factors like heightened awareness among women pertaining to breastfeeding and the high population of working females. According to the Singapore Health Promotion Board, more than 53% of working mothers stop breastfeeding due to low breast milk supply, despite knowing that breastfeeding is the best form of feeding for a newborn. How might we reduce the number of working mothers who give up their breastfeeding journey, by providing solutions for their feeding problems that integrate with their working lifestyle? CHALLENGE: The creative challenge was to elevate the breast pump from a discreet utilitarian device to an iconic elegant accessory that consumers desire. Apart from the tangible solutions the breast pump utilises to achieve maximum milk yield, considerations for the more elusive emotional and psychological influences were explored and implemented. The manufacturing challenges include, matching the colour for the hidden display that lights up when the product is turned on, to the overall colour of the housing, addition of a pulsating light strip to aid in calming the mood and regulating breaths while pumping. All these while maintaining the dimensional and weight constraints for a compact and portable hospital grade breast pump.
