Interview with Hyuntek Yoon at Monday 20th of May 2019

FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
HY: To design space with the unique characteristic

FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
HY: The client want to have three distinctive space. The main focus is to subdivide existing space and give unique characteristic to the each room.

FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
HY: I will keep designing impressive spaces for the client.

FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
HY: 2 month

FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
HY: This is commissioned, but it is collaboration process between the architect and the client.

FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
HY: No.

FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
HY: The client's need

FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
HY: The client is the fashion designer. She was the inspiration of the project.

FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
HY: This is the showroom of fashion brand. A Whimsical Wander's client is the target customer who will visit the showroom.

FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
HY: Distinctive spatial concept.

FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
HY: A Whimsical Wander is my client's name.

FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
HY: Digital design

FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
HY: Colors and materials are used to define three different chambers as requested by the client; the entry lobby, the clothing room, and the office.

FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
HY: Collaborated with the client.

FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
HY: I had communicated with the client with 3D visualization tool.

FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
HY: no

FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
HY: To work with the general contractor was the challenge. It is typical in architecture.

FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
HY: Recommendation from my colleague.

FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
HY: Realization of the architectural project is always challenging. I am learning to deal with many incidents from every project.

FS: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions?
HY: no
