Interview with Tonny Wirawan Suriadjaja at Tuesday 21st of May 2019 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? TS: When I visited and saw the site, instantly I was thinking about the long rectangular open space on the ground floor, sandwiched between outdoor and the perpendicular rectangular space, juxtaposed above it. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? TS: My main focus in designing this project is to make the main living and dining space, floating between an outdoor garden. FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? TS: I think this particular design concept will suit to the site dimension and nice cool weather on the location. FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? TS: This design was made to suit this particular location and weather,so the result will be different, if this building is placed on another context. I think this design philosophy has set apart our design from other similar modern house's look. FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? TS: The name is derived from the long rectangular space on the ground floor, which become the heart of the house. FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design? TS: We analyzed the flow direction of natural air within the site, to ensure the main long space can be cooled and ventilated naturally.
