Interview with Mohammad Enjavi Amiri at Tuesday 24th of April 2018 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? SE: the main principle is simplicity and the inspirations comes from a cube and my childhood memories, when i played with the combs FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? SE: simplicity with high efficiency FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? SE: i will send this chair to the other award competitions and i will get a contract for it FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? SE: about one or two month FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? SE: i love this chair, no its not been commissioned, i just decided to pursuit my inspiration FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? SE: no its not produce yet, but i want to sell this design to furniture companies FS: What made you design this particular type of work? SE: Curiosity FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work? SE: no, its just my creativity FS: Who is the target customer for his design? SE: every one, specially people who lives in apartments FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? SE: simplicity and creativity FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? SE: from a special font, DODO is looks like my design shape FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? SE: sketches, solidworks modeling and analyses, keyshot rendering FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? SE: simplicity FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills? SE: no FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design? SE: the joints come from aluminium profiles and made with extrusion, and the body an arms made from simple wood working FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design? SE: people life styles, and aesthetics researches push me to design this product this way FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept? SE: shape of arms, function of joints, specially the main joint, com-like structure FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? SE: there was a lot of positive comment on this design from good designers and good manufactures, so i decide to submit it FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work? SE: managing the all processes during the design like mechanisms, shapes and etc. FS: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions? SE: no thanks.
