| DESIGN NAME: Dodo Chair PRIMARY FUNCTION: Multifunctional Chair INSPIRATION: Thinking about simplifying everyday products, is the main inspiration. Therefore, thinking about simplicity in form, drives me to choose a cube. The comb-like structure of this chair has its roots in my childhood, when I would mix the combs and play with them, but the dents would never fit into each other completely. However, today I hooked up all of them and this chair is create. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: is this a box that turns into a chair, or a chair that turns into a box? This chair could be modified according to the environment with the ability of joints and the folding system. For example converting from a comfort chair to a bar stool, bookshelf, etc. the most important characteristic of this product is, its simplicity with high efficiency. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: since this chair is made of a simple shape and simple materials, it is more understandable and can connect with users easier. When the user wants to interact with this product, it offers them more options. Therefore, this chair has been design to act, and to be used with multiple uses. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The main structure of this chair is the beech wood and, the stainless steel can also be used. This structure consists of the main body, two arms, Three joints that move and two other joints that are fixed. Two movement are defined in the movable joints, which are locked and can bear the weight when turn into a comfort chair or a bar stool. Beside its high efficiency, there is also a research about its ergonomics, that is the most important factor for design a chair. CHALLENGE: The main challenge was to put the simplicity, beauty and efficiency all together in one single product. On the way of designing, I faced other challenges, such as designing the joints and the comb-like mechanism in the same firmness and aesthetic features. The simple and strong form , and the ideal application along with exact engineering and the use of popular and recyclable wood material with aluminum, has created a design that brings a sense of firmness and modern aesthetic to the atmosphere of the home, bar or restaurant.
