Interview with Liam Martens at Sunday 23rd of April 2017 FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? LM: I clean UI that was not obstructive to let the movies come to their right. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? LM: We are going to keep reviewing movies. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? LM: The Screeners has been a work in progress for over a year and we are still working on improving certain things. FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? LM: It is a project from me and a friend of mine. It is all us. FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? LM: Not exactly applicable. FS: What made you design this particular type of work? LM: My love for technology and the digital world is the main driver behind the type of work I do. FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work? LM: Probably, but not that I can consciously think of. FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? LM: Other movie review blogs are usually very obstructing and cumbersome to read. We want to bring movie reviews to everyone, not just those who are really interested in it. FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? LM: I honestly don't remember why we used this name, but it's what we started with and what we stuck with. FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? LM: I used InVision and Adobe XD for this project. FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? LM: The way it gives every movie it's own character. FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills? LM: Just some peer evaluation with another designer. FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design? LM: Research was simple, how did others do it and what could we do better. FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? LM: Well I already have some experience with submitting my work to design galleries and they usually work. FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work? LM: I started doing more peer evaluations.
