Interview with Jenifer Blanco Monzón at Sunday 23rd of April 2017

FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
JB: This project was created to express my art direction, graphic design, photographic and typographic skills. It was born from the need to create a project unique and colourful. Unique because I combined the conceptual and the design world with the result of a 5 pieces project where each one of them speaks for itself. And Colourful because it was made to catch every eye and to make people feel happy and content by looking at it.

FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
JB: Tt was made to catch every eye and to make people feel happy and content by looking at it.

FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
JB: To be able to work and collaborate with more people around the world.

FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
JB: Around two moths.

FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
JB: This project was a side project for me. I made because I wanted to create something nice and that made me feel proud of my skills.

FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
JB: Yes. The Main Stuff in Argentina is selling my design in iPhone cases, pillows, bags, cups, etc!

FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
JB: No. I just imagined it and made it.

FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
JB: Everyone!

FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
JB: I think people can connect to this project because it is not only pretty but because it has content, it has an idea behind it, and it is that you can take the characteristics of an object or a thing and be like it. You can be whatever you like and you can become whoever you like. Some days you can be sweet but some days you need to be clear and sharp. So because it's universal, everybody can relate to this project.

FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
JB: The realization of this project was wide in skills. I paint the objects and the typography by hand, made the photoshoot in my own studio and retouched the photos using Photoshop. So I went from analog and craft to digital in one single project.

FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
JB: I did it by myself and a friend model her hands.

FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
JB: This project was quite a challenge because I made it all from scratch. The idea was completely new and unique and I did not wanted to fake it by using only photoshop. I really enjoy crafting and set design, that is why I put all my knowledge and skills into it.

FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
JB: A Design Award sent me an email and suggested that I should submit this particular project. I am happy that I did!

FS: Thank you for providing us with this opportunity to interview you.
