Interview with Prashant Chauhan at Monday 24th of April 2017 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? PC: The idea was to bind the identity of the group with one single DNA across the various businesses of an open dynamic square. Abstraction of African continent was a major inspiration for the design including the idea to achieve 'G' as a visual symbol. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? PC: African presence was to be highlighted with the visual identity of the group. The group logo was derived with smaller components forming this open dynamic square which displayed its hunger to grow further. The colours are derived from flags of African nation with the business presence. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? PC: The concept was designed over a couple of hours and instantly approved by the client. Further it was adapted to individual business logos within a week. FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? PC: Yes the design was commissioned to us. The concept was generated from the client brief. FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? PC: No FS: What made you design this particular type of work? PC: Adaptive Logos have been not very popular. Hence we wanted to experiment with the idea of an adaptive seed which keeps transforming and adapting individual business. FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? PC: The design clearly speaks of originality and individuality. FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? PC: The Name was coined by the clients. The brothers Girisch and Gautam came along to form this name GiGa and their major business area being Africa the group was named GiGa Africa. FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? PC: Corel Draw FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? PC: The adaptive use of the Group logo was the unique aspect of the design. FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? PC: Since we and the clients were very thrilled with the design, we thought we should share this on a larger platform.
