Interview with Ronald Scliar Sasson at Monday 4th of April 2016 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? RS: The idea is to honor the organic movements of the sea, having the principal lines of the silhouettes of the waves. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? RS: The was a tribute to nature, I want to achieve a more artistic possible reproduction of the movement of the waves. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? RS: Make it to become affordable with quality and can reach as many people as possible. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? RS: From idea to final design were 3 months. FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? RS: This project was made directly from an inspiration, without direct order. FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? RS: This furniture is being produced and sold by an outsourced company. FS: What made you design this particular type of work? RS: The organic curves of the movement of the waves. FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work? RS: No, this work is 100% my inspiration. FS: Who is the target customer for his design? RS: All those who like to enjoy minimalist design and furniture geared to the nature movements. FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? RS: Innovation, technology, simplicity and finish. FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? RS: Acqua name comes from the tribute to water, which in Portuguese is said "água". FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? RS: 3D Studio and Photoshop. FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? RS: The lightness of curves. FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills? RS: Yes, I have a team formed for development and operation for new projects. FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design? RS: Fundamentally, it enabled the construction without metallic interference uses. FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design? RS: Contemplation of nature and design studies freehand. FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept? RS: Techniques of resistance and attachment difficulties. FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? RS: Believing that the design and development of this project is something different than it has lately. FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work? RS: The work best with multi-laminated sheets and bonding processes. FS: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions? RS: Nothing.
