Interview with Adagio Townplaza at Sunday 13th of April 2014 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? JD: Functionality and aesthetics. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? JD: A design proposal perfectly matched with functionality. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? JD: End up the construction and commercialization of it. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? JD: 1.5 years FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? JD: Because it addresses the need of the people of the surrounding area FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? JD: No FS: What made you design this particular type of work? JD: The needs of the people based on a cost effective concept FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work? JD: Yes, Balcazar Arquitectos FS: Who is the target customer for his design? JD: A private high end level neighborhood with 7000 families prospected at the opening. FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? JD: It is the only destination mall in te area FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? JD: It's based on a music name which is the concept of the master plan and we just liked the name of that music tempo FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? JD: Restaurants on top with a main Plaza at the middle. FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills? JD: Balcazar Arquitectos, Prisma, 4S and Colliers FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design? JD: To make the operation the most efficient FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design? JD: Yes, 2 different market studios with benchmarking insights and demographic projections. FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept? JD: The most important was to match a cost effective product with a beautiful design FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? JD: Because we thought it was worth recognizing FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work? JD: Several aspects, specially on how users would use the building FS: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions? JD: No
