Interview with Ari Korolainen at Sunday 13th of April 2014

FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
AK: Private Case, several ways to use. By using you will find your way.To use environmently friendly materials, plain design, functional products.

FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
AK: This case can be use by several ways. I do not wanna tell everything. I leave something to one who is using it. When your demands grow. Case is ready to answer your demands.

FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
AK: Sell a lot...I would like to design more items to make a large collection. Colors and models

FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
AK: It took about a year to do this.

FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
AK: I made first cases about 30 years ago. And somehow my design allways is coming from my own needs. Now I needed a case to my Mac. A simple case with Mac feeling and diffrent way to use.

FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
AK: We have own factory, where we make most of the products.

FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
AK: My own needs.IMPORTANT. Sholderstrap can be use different ways. You can carry I phone, Mini I pad or I pad at the sae time with you or you can carry book newspaper or umbrella with you. As much as you can carry inside of a case you can carry outside of the case

FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
AK: I try to discuss with my friends to get feed back from my work

FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
AK: I think Mac users are main target..

FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
AK: Name Olga is like finnish word olka, which means sholder.

FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
AK: We make prototype by hands.

FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
AK: Plain and functionality with a small glue. You can carry I phone, Mini I pad or I pad at the sae time with you or you can carry book newspaper or umbrella with you. As much as you can carry inside of a case you can carry outside of the case

FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
AK: Macintosh measurementsTo catch feeling of Mac. New color Mac silveris comingThere is a lot of handwork

FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
AK: I discusses with Mac users and Mac stores To solve their problems. More in

FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
AK: I have taken part for some other design competitions with a good luck some past years.

FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
AK: Every work learns me something. To develop better products.
