Interview with Hakhamanesh Mashayekhi at Sunday 4th of May 2014

FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
HM: Sharing and connectivity were the most prominent words as inspirations for us to design "Aura". Thinking about how these two elements will shape the mobility in future leads us to design this concept.

FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
HM: To find a new and pure experience for future mobility.

FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
HM: Actually thinking about this idea was started by Kaveh Nasserbakht then Reza Salianeh and I were added to the process. So it was a long design process for a concept.

FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
HM: Based on our research, we realized "Generation Y" will dominate the most important part of the future market. So we focused on their needs and behaviors. "Aura" is our result based on this specific target customers.

FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
HM: From our point of view, there are two features in our concept that make a big difference between "Aura" and other similar concepts. First one, is the smart idea for connecting the seats to each other and providing tens different segmentation fr this car. The second one is the Ring that can connect to the seats and be a part of driving experience as well as daily life's experiences.

FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
HM: It is a very interesting question. We had two inspirations for naming this project. First of all, we took advantage from the real meaning of Aura; Aura means the atmosphere that surrounds us and includes our behaviors, tastes and thoughts and when the Auras have intersection, people can have communication. So Aura is a kind of metaphor for the way that we have designed to connect people as well as their cars. In addition, Aura is the name of novel written by Carlos Fuentes. The content of the novel was another inspiration for us.

FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
HM: Designing a new experience for mobility in future based on sharing and connectivity.

FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
HM: Thinking about technology is a part of a futuristic design process. As we mentioned in our attached documents, there are two focused technologies in our final concept. First one is about the ring, it includes a holographic projector to provide an augmented reality for the users. The second one is about the method that we have selected to change the body color. We took advantage from Mirasol Display as a super green technology for the future.

FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
HM: We had a brief research about the future trends, customers and market's potential before started our design process.

FS: Thank you for providing us with this opportunity to interview you.
