Home > Winners > Design #32118 >Interview
Editor Frank Scott (FS) from DesignPRWire has interviewed designer Claudio Sibille (CS) for A' Design Awards and Competition. You can access the full profile of Claudio Sibille by clicking here. Access more information about the award winning design Twins here.

Interview with Claudio Sibille at Tuesday 15th of April 2014

FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
CS: The idea, like most of my work is to show that thre is more than meets the eye in what looks like a simple object. Whjat inspired me to do this. . . ell in great measure, my wife´s pregnancy.

FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
CS: This project is the result of my work in M3 where multifunctionality and space saving furniture is the main objective.

FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
CS: Well, now that it has a distinctive quality seal like the "A´design" it´s time to take this to the prototype level, and ending with the commercial one.

FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
CS: Quite a while. I jhesitated a lot while designing this project. I was never totally satisfied with the relationships of height between the coffee table and the chairs. Reaching that exact balance where you can say "Uffff, I´M FINALLY DONE" took me days, weeks. Not always working on this project of course, but week anyway.

FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
CS: I did not precisely need to solve this particular problem (the one solved by this design), but I needed to find new ways of solving space issues through furniture design in the most original and practicable way possible.

FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
CS: It will be manufactured by M3 soon.

FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
CS: mostly young people between the ages of 18 and 50 living in small apartments that can easily manipulate light medium sized objects in their daily basis routine.

FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
CS: I think the one thing that sets this design apart is its utility.

FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
CS: The name comes from the fact that the two chairs are identical and come from the same womb.

FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
CS: Pencil, paper, autocad, 3d studio and lots of coffee.

FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
CS: My good results doing this in previous years.

FS: Thank you for providing us with this opportunity to interview you.
