Interview with boattiverga studio at Monday 14th of April 2014 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? BS: Re-use, praticity and functionality FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? BS: The main focus in our project is try to value an industrial and very common product like is the traditional bottle crate. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? BS: Increase and improve the project with a new version of Baretto FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? BS: One year from the first idea to the final realization FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? BS: We pursuit our inspiration and creativity FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? BS: We are producing Baretto ourself, but in the future we could be partner of a company FS: What made you design this particular type of work? BS: We love colored and vintage plastic bottle crate and functionality FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work? BS: We are influenced by art, starting from Keith Haring to Marcio Kogan FS: Who is the target customer for his design? BS: Young and open-minded FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? BS: The project is composed by 100 of unique pieces. A limited edition of vintage plastic bottle crate FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? BS: The product is a new mini bar redesigned with a modern vision and so the funny name Baretto FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? BS: Drawings, paintings and many prototypes FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? BS: The traditional bottle crate has always been used for glass bottled water home delivery, but now its concept has been rethought and reborn as a contemporary home mini bar. FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills? BS: We collaborated with a carpenter and with a painter FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design? BS: The numerically controlled cutting for MDF worktops FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design? BS: No, it isn't FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept? BS: Was very difficult obtained authorizations from companies to use brands and plastic crates FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? BS: We wanted compare our work tho other international designers FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work? BS: We are two architects and work on a furniture design is a new challenge, in particular about details, materials and prototypes
