Interview with Ece Cokca at Sunday 10th of March 2013

FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
EC: The main idea is to combine the separate bathroom elements in one multifunctional unit. I am inspired by the swans for their esthetic curling lines .

FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
EC: The main focus was to combine separate bathroom elements in an esthetical single unit and to save space in a bathroom. I wanted to achieve a neat bathroom which can be more hygienic and easy to clean. In this design the utility lines can be gathered in one cylindrical shaft. I want this design to facilitate people's lives and make life more joyful.

FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
EC: I want this design to be realized by a prominent sanitaryware company.

FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
EC: The design idea came to my mind on January 2010 and the detailed design took about two months. It was completed on February 2012.

FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
EC: The design was a persuit one of my inspirations.

FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
EC: My design is not produced, my intension is to lease or sell the production.

FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
EC: I wanted to design a peculiar product for people who are seeking for extraordinary designs.

FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
EC: No.

FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
EC: People who are looking for an extraordinary design for their bathrooms would be my target customer.

FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
EC: Similar projects have separate units installed next to the walls of a bathroom but my product is installed in the center of the bathroom in one unit.

FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
EC: The name of this design influenced by the curling shape of the swans.

FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
EC: I have used autocad and 3ds max programmes.

FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
EC: İnspite of the similar projects separate units installed on different walls of bathroom, my project is in the center of the bathroom in one unit.

FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
EC: No.

FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
EC: There is no special technology which influenses my design.

FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
EC: No.

FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
EC: The stability of the unit supported by the cylindrical column was a challenge during my design.
