Interview with Athanasia Leivaditou at Sunday 23rd of October 2016 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? AL: This table has the ability to adjust its surface to different shapes, materials, textures and colors. Contrary to a conventional table, whose tabletop serves as a fixed surface for the serving accessories (plates, serving platters, etc.), this table’s components act as both the surface and the serving accessories. These accessories can be composed in different shaped and sized components depending on the required dining needs. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? AL: This design transforms a traditional dining table into a dynamic centerpiece through its continual rearrangement of curved accessories. The sense that you experience is that you eat on the table itself. FS: What made you design this particular type of work? AL: The FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? AL: The "dynamic" character of the tabletop. FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? AL: The prototype is made of wood and curved plexiglass.
