Interview with Kahyun Kim at Thursday 12th of April 2012 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? KK: inspired from the action of taking out a book from a bookshelf. The way to turn on the light is similar to taking out a book from a bookshelf. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? KK: not just design things but relative human behavior it makes design more better quality. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? KK: make it real FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? KK: more than 1 year FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? KK: Of course i want to produce my work on myself but it depends on FS: What made you design this particular type of work? KK: fun and utility. FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work? KK: Fukasawa Naoto is my most favorite designer and he inspired me . FS: Who is the target customer for his design? KK: for everyone FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? KK: rhinoceros, illustrator, photoshop and handdrawing. FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? KK: The intuitive design FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept? KK: function and technology FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? KK: for Instinctive FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work? KK: i realized that it is important to how to represent my works to public.
