FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? MC: no focus, pure pleasure for creating and experimenting with unusual materials. we want to create feelings. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? MC: continue to have fun. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? MC: from 2006. FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? MC: we decide to pursuit an inspiration. FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? MC: In MU'trans project objects are exclusively handmade, and produced by ourselves, but we remain open to any type of collaboration. FS: What made you design this particular type of work? MC: ... FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work? MC: ... FS: Who is the target customer for his design? MC: who conceived the design as a piece of art. FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? MC: Energy. FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? MC: MU'trans: MU for the softness of the material. TRANS for crossing the border between art and design. FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? MC: hands and spirit. FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? MC: The objects created look like static but they become tender, elastic and mobile if touched; they start to vibrate and wave unexpectedly. They interact with the user stiring up contrasting feelings. FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills? MC: we have developed it by ourself, we only consulted a chemist to color the silicone. FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design? MC: none. FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design? MC: ... FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept? MC: the silicone we use is not easy to shape. FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? MC: to see what happens. FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work? MC: We learned to don't work when you do not feel good with yourself, because you transfer negative energy to the object and you do not have a good result. And also we learn to do everything without expecting anything. FS: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions? MC: No thank you.
