Interview with Antonia Skaraki at Thursday 15th of June 2023 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? AS: The matriarch of the Greek family, with her homemade recipes, embodies the value of family and the love a mother gives to her children. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? AS: This is about how a real person became the inspiration for a multi-awarded brand. How the story of a family of Cretan bakers who wanted to pay tribute to their mother and her recipes created something unique yet totally functional. Her guiding spirit guided our design which made her the heroine of the brand. Her face, through the art of lithography, made it alive. Her hair and dress acquired pieces of breads and wheat fields. Her ribbons were made of scraps and leftover papers which instead of being thrown away, became part of the creation.
