Interview with Li Jiuzhou at Sunday 15th of May 2022 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? JL: Mid-Autumn Festival is a very special festival in China. On this festival, everyone will give friends what they think is good. In the design, a beautiful combination of blue and gold was used, and the pale golden moon pattern and greetings were used to construct a whole figure. The moon is not complete, which symbolizes that "people have joys and sorrows, and the moon is cloudy and full", but the whole moon is a circle, which represents perfection and reunion. Open the box. There are eight metal boxes with tea in them. Eight boxes correspond to eight moon shapes. There is a full moon in the middle, which represents the meaning of wishing reunion. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? JL: In ancient China, the moon was divided into eight morphological stages in a year, and eight tea leaves represented the moon's eight morphological stages in a year. The meaning of gifts can last for a year. And those eight metal boxes are reusable, and they can be used year after year. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? JL: Promote, sell and design more cultural gifts. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? JL: 3 months FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? JL: My inspiration FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? JL: I want to sell or lease the production rights FS: Who is the target customer for his design? JL: Someone who wants to express his thoughts to his relatives and friends.
