Interview with Ryuji Yamashita at Wednesday 18th of May 2022 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? RY: We learn a lot from our childhood experiences and from nature. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? RY: It is about enriching the family that lives in the house. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? RY: It is to live long as a house. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? RY: About a year. FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? RY: We pursued inspiration. FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? RY: The design was created by having four children. FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? RY: CAD. CG software. FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? RY: The floor is to be a desk. FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills? RY: We worked with the construction company. FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept? RY: It was difficult to adjust costs. FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? RY: To increase the value of the house. FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work? RY: We learned about the significance of children's rooms and study desks.
