Interview with Oi Lin Irene Yeung at Saturday 7th of May 2022 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? IY: The message from a philosophy of "The Equality of Things" by Zhuangzi. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? IY: To breakthrough the manufacturing challenge and how to deliver the message via the products. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? IY: It took several months for brainstorming and also let me study more and more about philosophy. FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? IY: I really want to deliver message through my designs and products. FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? IY: The design is realized and start selling at the shop of Museum in Hong Kong and also a crowdfunding platform in Japan. FS: Who is the target customer for his design? IY: Only you love art, design and philosophy, you will love it. FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? IY: The name was from a philosophy of "The Equality of Things". FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept? IY: Realization and put design to be manufactured was critical as polygonal shape items are not easily produced.
